President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, delivered an insightful and well-reasoned lecture on "The Responsibilities of Parents and the Rights of Children, and the Responsibilities of Children and the Rights of Parents" on the fourth day of Itikaf City 2025 during the Asr prayer session at the women's section.

During his speech, Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri shed light on the greatness of parents, their rights, and the duties of children in the light of Quran and Hadith, emphasizing that parents sacrifice their lives for the upbringing of their children, and the esteemed status that Allah has granted them is unmatched.

He stressed the importance of respecting parents, stating that serving them is the most significant duty after worshiping Allah. Quoting the Holy Quran and Hadith, he highlighted that kindness towards parents is the key to success.

Quranic References on Parents' Rights

Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri quoted a verse from the Holy Quran:

"And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and be good to your parents. If one or both of them reach old age in your presence, do not say to them ‘Uff’ (a word of contempt), nor rebuke them, but speak to them with noble words." (Surah Al-Isra, 17:23)

He also referenced another Quranic verse about the hardships endured by mothers:

"And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years..." (Surah Luqman, 31:14)
The Blessings of Serving Parents

Dr. Hussain Qadri emphasized that one who serves their mother but neglects the rights of their father will face misfortune and lack of blessings in life. He cited a Hadith of the Holy Prophet (PBUH):

"Whoever wishes to have an extended lifespan and increased sustenance should treat their parents well and earn their pleasure."

Consequences of Disobedience to Parents

He warned that disobedience to parents has serious consequences and stated:

"If we neglect our parents' rights today, our children will do the same to us tomorrow."

He concluded by reminding the audience that Allah’s pleasure lies in the pleasure of parents, and whoever keeps their parents happy will have righteous and blessed generations.

Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri advised the attendees that the secret to success in both this world and the Hereafter lies in serving one's parents. He urged everyone to honor and respect their parents at all times and strive to earn their prayers and blessings.
